Billionaire Elon Musk has been in the news a lot lately. There is, first and foremost, his calling out for the client list of those who engaged in the services, to put it euphemistically, of Jeffrey Epstein and his cohort Ghislaine Maxwell.
This was back in early June when Musk took to twitter calling out the Department of Justice. He specifically said in the tweet that the DOJ hasn’t leaked the client list, that the public doesn’t seem to care, and basically doesn’t that all seem odd.
There is also, of course, the ongoing sage of weather Elon Musk will in fact buy the famed platform Twitter and weather that deal will ever go though. It is on the latter point that there is an update.
It has been reported:
The billionaire, whose offer to purchase Twitter has been accepted by its board of directors, wants to know who is behind a letter that was sent to Twitter advertisers, and signed by more than two dozen liberal groups, demanding that they boycott Twitter if Musk gets the company.
The backers of the leftists non-government offices are backed by billionaire George Soros and some former operatives of Hillary Clinton as well as the Canadian government and the European Union, The New York Post reported.
Musk took direct aim at the groups on Twitter, demanding to know who was backing them. “Who funds these organizations that want to control your access to information? Let’s investigate …,” he said. “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” “Few names will sure come up, like Open Source Foundation, George Soros amongst others,” a Twitter user responded.
“I will call him and ask,” the Tesla, SpaceX and Starlink CEO reported. He then linked to a story in The Daily Mail that named the backers as Soros, Clinton and Obama staffers and European governments.
“Interesting. I wonder if those funding these organizations are fully aware of what the organizations are doing,” he said. The groups warned in their letter that Twitter will change with Musk at the helm.
“Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter will further toxify our information ecosystem and be a direct threat to public safety, especially among those already most vulnerable and marginalized,” the letter said. With no evidence, the letter said that advertisers on a Musk controlled platform “risks association with a platform amplifying hate, extremism, health misinformation, and conspiracy theorists,” it said.
“Under Musk’s management, Twitter risks becoming a cesspool of misinformation, with your brand attached, polluting our information ecosystem in a time where trust in institutions and news media is already at an all-time low,” the groups said.
“Your ad dollars can either fund Musk’s vanity project or hold him to account. We call on you to demand Musk uphold these basic standards of community trust and safety, and to pull your advertising spending from Twitter if they are not,” it said.
The New York Post reported. The document’s letterhead includes the logos of three organizations — Accountable Tech, Media Matters for America, and UltraViolet.
Accountable Tech is a Washington, DC-based organization linked to top Democrats. Jesse Lehrich, a co-founder, once served as a spokesperson for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. He is also the nephew of former Obama adviser David Axelrod.
Media Matters for America is an organization founded by political operative and Clinton backer David Brock. MMFA is a site “dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.”
Hopefully the fervent and public shaming by a high profile billionaire like Musk might become part of the engine that finally drives the often discuss client list to be made available to the public. The curious case of Epstein is still making waves. We reported previously that a know Epstein associate, Steven Hoffenberg, told the authorities about Epstein’s role and was mysteriously found dead in his home in Connecticut. That was only earlier this week. So, the Epstein affair is far from over.
